They both were genuine, kind people, loving what they do, being enthusiastic about nature and all it offers... read more in Ketchikan. We loved learning from them about life in Ketchikan while enjoying the sight of whales (we followed it along from distance - so cool!) and bald eagles, learning hands on about bull kelp and sea stars. Jenni could talk to our 8-year old so well with her background as Science Mom and also had a healthy (gluten free which was a life saver) snack to offer as soon as she said she was hungry.
The expedition was the highlight of our trip! THANK YOU so much!!

  Great time - Overall a very nice tour. We went where the larger boats cant go. Very educational and fun. We saw a few whales including one... read more right next to the boat, eagles, eagle next, sea otters, seals, starfish, jellyfish and tasted kale and played the kale trumpet.   The Real Thing - Amazing! Educational. Beautiful. Fun. Zipping over the wide open water. We got away, away from the hubbub of Ketchikan and out into the bigness of... read more the Alaska water nature close up. Tasting salt on your lips. Onboard biologist Jenny, who was so passionate about teaching us her love of this environment. We saw seals, learned about starfish. Pulled up a dead kelp plant, learned why we all should be eating more kelp, and had a music fest with a kelp tube. Captain Eric was a so-so kelp trumpet player! Stopped and watched seine fishing operations of the pink salmon---so interesting. No whales today, but that did not diminish in any way what a great trip this was. We gathered orange plankton for a scientific experiment, which we informally performed in the dark bathroom when we got back. The results are yet to be confirmed, but the plankton was not indicating it was bioluminescent. My 6 year old grandson spent time in the sitting on the floor of the craft eating his crackers and I wondered what would be his impression. He came alert (and woke up!) with Jenny's experiments and talked endlessly later that night about his experiences. One of those priceless experiences. I absolutely loved the smallness of the craft as I felt I had a personal experience to learn and was taught to love another place. Jenny's hot chocolate was delicious, by the way. The "wet" suits were perfect protection and rather cute on the 6 year old ! I am so happy I had this experience. When you look at all the tours, it's hard to distinguish a meaningful one from an entertainment one; Alaska Ocean Wilderness was absolutely the best.

We werent lucky enough to spot whales this time but lots of eagles and other wildlife and Eric and Jenny worked hard to make this a memorable experience so we have no hesitation in recommending this tour. They were both super friendly too so we really enjoyed ourselves :)

You could tell that no two tours were alike--they weren't working off a script, and their personalities along with their absolute love of their environment and of what they do made the expedition extra special for us. Just my son, daughter and I were on this expedition--they even told me about a bay that shares my last name--the entire expedition was very personal. I would 100% recommend this expedition to anyone looking for a very knowledgable team to not only show but explain what they are seeing and why. Delaney, on the dock, was very professional and personable as well--just a complete pleasure working with this team. Thank you all for a memorable visit!
